90 days till summer, people!!!

After dealing with a sheet of ice on my car yesterday morning, it's hard to remember what the summer sun feels like. But today is March 1st, and that means 90 days still summer! If you're wanting to get in better shape by June, it's time to step it up!

I did a pretty good job last week up until Wednesday. Those of you following my Facebook page know that that's when my cat Lucas started getting REALLY sick. Thursday evening was by the far the worst night, we thought we were going to lose him. It was finally discovered that he's been eating a whole bunch of crazy stuff - packaging tape, ribbons, stickers. The vet said it's a miracle he's alive. Poor little thing was so sick and has lost so much weight. We're still not sure if he will be OK 100% - he may have kidney damage...but for now, my baby is home and doing much better!

A few weeks ago, I switched my volunteer day at the animal shelter from Tuesdays to Mondays. I'm starting to regret this and am thinking of switching it back because it's really affecting my workout in boot camp on Mondays. Last week, I made a chocolate shake by Shakeology (I received 2 free samples) and put a banana in it. I drank it before going to the shelter and felt awesome throughout my workout and even did an extra 30 minutes of cardio after the hour long class. This week - the shake did NOTHING. I felt like I was going to pass out in class. I was tired, dizzy and had no energy at all. I tried having a PB&J before class a few weeks ago, that also didn't help. Any suggestions for a meal I can eat while driving from work to the shelter that will last me through class?!

I went to the gym tonight and did a cardio mix - 16 minutes on the cross trainer, 10 minutes or so on the treadmill, and 20 minutes on the Stairmaster. Today was a wake up call that I really have to pay attention to what I'm eating when it comes time to train for the half marathon. I say this because my mom made meatloaf tonight - and while I only had 2 pieces and a baked potato, it really held me back when I was running. My stomach felt heavy and I knew I wasn't going to last on the treadmill very long - which I didn't.

Also, I signed up for the Warrior Dash in June! It sounds crazy and awesome! I kind of wish I hadn't freaked out about registration filling up and took the time to get a group of friends to do this with me first. It looks like they added more waves (start times, basically) for the late afternoon/early evening. But I really wanted to get signed up and was worried everyone would take too long to make a decision about it. It's a 3.28 mile course with 10 "obstacles from hell", as the website says, haha. My boyfriend signed up to do it too ... now I just have to get him up to speed on running :)

Well, think that's all for tonight. Going to try REALLY hard to wake up for the gym tomorrow morning...ugh, we'll see...

Crazy Monday

I'm WIPED OUT!

I used to volunteer at the cat shelter on Tuesdays, but was finding it hard to get over there so I moved my day to Mondays. Even though it's a grind, I kind of like getting my volunteering and then boot camp done at the end of the week.

Did very good with my eating today - was around 1,550 calories and worked out for 90 minutes. That's another reason I'm wiped out right now!

I've mentioned in this blog before that I'm obsessed with Thomas' 100% whole wheat bagel thins with whipped cream cheese, reduced fat peanut butter, and a little tiny bit of Nutella on them. I discovered something new at Trader Joe's to be obsessed with - peanut butter cream cheese! Ahhh it's so good! And with it blended in one, it actually saves me some calories and fat than spreading both on my bagel.

For my workout I did the 60 minute boot camp class then 30 minutes of cardio - 15 on the stairs, 15 minutes on the cross ramp.

I'd write more, but I'm too tired and am about to get ready for bed!

Time to get back on the wagon.

My last post for this blog was December 6th. Haven't been much in the mood for blogging, especially about diet and exercise because there hasn't been much interesting to say. I've been working out about 3 times a week, which is a bit less than what I had built up to.

I've fallen off the wagon I bit - and I don't really feel the holidays are to blame. I seemed to do fairly well with eating and exercise for December. For some reason, once January rolled around, I threw all caution to the wind. I think this is partly because I felt like I got away with very little weight gain from the holidays, so I thought I could go wild.

That was a mistake. The last time I was at my ideal weight was December 20th. Slowly but surely, 8 pounds have crept on since then.

Uggghhhhhh! Just another reminder that weight will be a constant battle in my life and something I will always have to monitor. I decided today to get back on track and start monitoring my calories for the week on Daily Plate. I am stepping up the exercise and cutting back where I can - especially on going out to eat and drinking alcohol.

Today my totals are at 1,400 calories and 43 grams of fat. I did a mix of weight lifting at the gym with my friend Steph today, then did 45 minutes of cardio - 15 mins on the stairs, 15 mins on the cross trainer, and 15 mins running/walking on a high incline. Felt pretty good after!

It's hard to stick to this stuff, but I did it before so I can do it again - and need to before all 20 pounds I lost last year come back!!! Hoping keeping up with this blog will help, since it makes me feel I have to be more accountable.
